DG South Students Help Out Those in Need for the Holidays

Downers Grove South students are teaming up to support those less fortunate this holiday season. Check out their efforts, and how you can get involved.

Student groups at Downers Grove South are looking out for those in need around them this holiday season.

Find out who they are, and how you can help:

  • Special Services has selected to support the Hesed House in Aurora. They will be collecting items and donations to help purchase gift cards to help meet the needs of the homeless individuals and families the Hesed House serves. Items will be collected from next Thursday, December 12 as well as from the community by the Fine Arts Department before the Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. For details of the collection and greatest needs, see the flyer.
  • The African American Male Leadership Club, DECA, and Steppers have joined together to collect needed supplies for the residents of Washington, Illinois who were devastated by the tornado last month. They've called their effort "Project Panther," after the high school mascot of the town. Supplies will be collected at school throughout the week and this Saturday between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those wanting to help further will travel to Washington, Ill. on Sunday to unload and volunteer! For details on what's most needed, see the flyer and "like" their Facebook page "Project Panther: Tornado Relief."
