Bank Employee Admits Skimming $3,100 Over 5 Months: Police Blotter

THURSDAY, SEPT. 26

Woman Charged With Retail Theft

Police charged Jaimie R. Kasper, 22, of the 4600 block of Beau Bien Boulevard, Lisle, with one count of retail theft. Kasper was arrested at about 1 p.m. at a store on the 2900 block of Finley Road.

Store security caught Kasper trying to take a set of earrings, bracelets, a blue scarf and a ceramic bowl (total value: $57.99) out of the store without paying for them, according to a police report.

Kasper was handcuffed and transported to the Downers Grove Police Department. She was charged and released on I-bond.

Man Charged With Retail Theft 

Police charged Julio A. Orjuela, of the first block of Elm Creek Drive, Elmhurst, with retail theft. Orjuela was arrested at about 2:14 p.m. at a store on the 3300 block of Finley Road.

Store security caught Orjuela trying to take two iPhone cases worth $34.98 total from a store without paying for them, according to a police report. Orjuela was taken into custody and transported to the Downers Grove Police Department. He was released on I-bond with a pending court date.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 20

Bank Employee Admits Skimming

Police charged Jasmine B. Simons, 33, of the 1400 block of Sommerfield Drive, Bolingbrook, with theft at her bank job. She admitted to stealing various amounts of cash totaling $3,150 since May 1, according to a police report. She started working 12 months ago at the bank, which is located on the 1100 block of Ogden Avenue.

Simons came forward after a bank manager began an inventory of her cash drawer due to a $100 discrepancy. She provided a full confession.

Simons was arrested at about 2:20 p.m., according to a police report. She was handcuffed, patted down and transported to the Downers Grove Police Department. She was then searched by a female detective, according to the report.

Simons was charged and released on an I-bond with a pending court date. 

TUESDAY, SEPT. 10

Police: Woman Had Fake Driver's License

Police charged Maria Fermin-Rubio, 36, of the 2300 block of West Nichols, Arlington Heights, with one count of retail theft and one count of possession of a fictitious driver's license, both misdemeanors. Fermin-Rubio was arrested at about 7:45 p.m. at a store on the 2900 block of Finley Road.

Store security caught Fermin-Rubio trying to take two pairs of earrings and two tubes of lip gloss (total value: $101) out of the store without paying for them, according to a police report.

Due to a language barrier, an officer said he searched her purse in order to identify her. He located what he described as a fictitious Illinois ID card and a fictitious Social Security Card, according to the police report.

Fermin-Rubio was handcuffed and transported to the Downers Grove Police Department. She posted $150 each for each charge and was released with an Oct. 16 court date in Wheaton.
