More Koi Fish Stolen in Downers Grove: Police Blotter

Downers Grove police reports, July 17.

About 40 Koi fish were reported stolen from a home in the 1200 block of Brookside Lane earlier this month, according to Downers Grove police.

The resident told police the fish were stolen from a small, decorative pond in her backyard sometime in March, but she didn't decide to file a report until July 17, when she read about another incident of stolen Koi fish in local publications.

On July 7, a resident in the 800 block of Maple Avenue reported that 15 multi-colored Koi fish were taken from her backyard pond. All eight of the owner's large Koi fish were gone, as well as about seven baby Koi.

The owner has had the Koi pond for about eight years and has never had a fish taken by an animal or person before.

The owner did not have any specific suspect information, but she did find an empty beer can by the pond when she returned home on July 7, police said.
