Coin Crook Leaves a Mess

Someone took $15 worth of change from an unlocked car on the 5700 block of Washington, police said. The incident occurred sometime between midnight and 7 a.m. "(The owner) advised me that the offender left ash from a cigarette in the cup holder and that her vehicle smelled like smoke, despite no one in her family smoking," the report for this incident said. There was no suspect information available.

TUESDAY, MAY 7

Pricey Accessories Poached

Someone broke into a car on the 1500 block of 75th Street and took three different accessories worth a total of $1,200, according to a police report. The stolen items were all black and included an $800 Arcadia purse, a $300 Kate Spade wallet and a $100 Coach clutch wallet. The incident occurred sometime during a 35-minute span that began at 9:15 a.m., the report said. There are no leads or suspects at this time.

Public Indecency

An unknown man exposed himself to a 26-year-old woman while he was driving a car at 11:46 a.m. near 59th Street and Grand Avenue, according to police. The driver kept his vehicle at the same speed the woman was jogging, and honked his horn to get her attention, the police report for this incident said. When she looked at the vehicle, the man was arched in his seat with his penis exposed and was masturbating, the report said. He then sped away and was last seen westbound on 59th at Fairmount Avenue.

The man was in a dark blue or black newer four-door sedan. He appeared to be between 35 and 45 years old, with short light-colored hair. "He was wearing a white tee shirt, and it did not appear that he had any type of pants on," the report said. Police did not find a driver matching this description.

Credit Card, $400 Cash Theft

Someone took $400 from a man's wallet and was able to successfully use one of his credit or debit cards to make a $200 purchase, police said. The men had his wallet in his gym bag when he went to a gym at 11 a.m. on the 3200 block of Finley Road. He locked up his bag and left at about noon with the bag. Within the hour, his wife called him to say that three different fraud departments had contacted her. Someone tried to use three of his cards at a store in the Yorktown Shopping Center at about 12:30 p.m. The man pulled out his wallet and noticed the missing cash and cards. Police provided him with an identity theft pamphlet when he reported the incident.
