Swastika Scratched onto Car, F-Bomb Painted on House: Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12

F-Bomb on Teacher's House

Someone wrote "F--- You" in black spray paint on a wall of a woman's house on the 5500 block of Fairmount Avenue. The incident occurred sometime between 9:15 p.m. June 11 and 7:45 a.m. June 12. The words were written on the house wall facing the driveway.

During the overnight hours of June 1 and 2, someone also knocked over flower pots and spilled dirt on the pavement, left a dirty diaper and a smoke bomb near her front door. She did not report the earlier incident to police because she thought it was an isolated incident, according to a report.

The woman is a teacher at an undisclosed school, but she doesn't think students are targeting her, the report said. There were no leads or suspects at the time of the report.

Swastika Scratched on Car Hood

Someone scratched a swastika into the hood and trunk of a red 2012 Hyundai Genesis on the 800 block of 62nd Street. The incident occurred sometime between 11 p.m. June 8 and 4:30 a.m. June 9 while the car was parked in a driveway. There was also another scratch along the passenger side of the vehicle.

"The complainant advised that he is not Jewish and he does not know anyone who would want to damage his vehicle," the report said. "No suspects or leads."

SATURDAY, JUNE 8

Graffiti at Park I

Someone spray-painted green and black graffiti, possibly gang related, on a concrete retaining wall on the north end of Washington Park on the 800 block of Prairie Avenue. The incident occurred sometime between 4 p.m. June 7 and 10:45 a.m. June 8. There were no leads or suspects at the time of the report.

TUESDAY, JUNE 4

Graffiti at Park II

Someone spray-painted green and black graffiti on the inside and outside walls of a bathroom located on the east side of Gilbert Park on the 1500 block of Gilbert Avenue. There was also graffiti on the wall of a baseball dugout in the center of the park. The incident occurred sometime between 3 p.m. and 8:13 p.m.

The spray paint appeared to be a mix of unknown gang graffiti and racial obscenities on the walls. There were no leads or suspects at the time of the report.
