Downers Grove Man Charged With Marijuana Possession

Marijuana Possession

Police arrested Nicholas J. Maes-Ladner, 27, of the 4100 block of Elm Street, Downers Grove, after an 11:49 a.m. traffic stop at Elm and Ogden Avenue. He was charged with possession of cannabis 30g and under and cited for disobeying a traffic control device. An officer saw Maes-Ladner's car make a left turn on southbound Highland Avenue onto eastbound Ogden Avenue where there is a "No Left Turn" sign, according to a police report. 

"When I was explaining to the offender about why I stopped him I could detect a strong odor of burnt Cannabis coming from inside of the vehicle," the responding officer said in the report for this incident.

After a conversation, the officer took a plastic bag from Maes-Ladner's left front pocket that contained a green leafy substance. He was transported to the Downers Grove Police Department for booking.

Stranger Dumps Trash in Resident's Backyard

A resident found a damaged big screen TV and six damaged satellite dishes in her backyard on the 4800 block of Highland Avenue. The items were dumped there sometime between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., according to a police report. A note on one of the satellite dishes read "Use them as scraps or Halloween costumes, whatever it is they're are [sic] free!" The resident said she didn't see anything unusual during the day and had not suspect information.

MONDAY, AUG. 19

Diamondback Disappears in 3 Minutes

Someone stole a $400 dark green Wildwood Diamondback bicycle from the 7200 block of Lemont Road. The incident occurred sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 11:48 a.m., according to a police report. During that time, the owner said she stepped inside the business and left her bike unlocked. The bike had a gray/black leather seat, a speedometer and a bell on the handlebars, according to a police report.
