A 47-year-old Western Springs man is headed to court after he entered a woman's car without her permission on the 3500 block of Highland Avenue.

Andrew Glenn Rice, of the 500 block of 41st Street, was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle. He entered the back seat of a nursing student's car at about 5:45 a.m. June 22 after she was the first one to pull into a small parking lot, according to a police report. The woman was in her car browsing on her cell phone, and her vehicle doors automatically unlocked as soon as she parked.

"She immediately exited her vehicle and began to yell at him to get out," the report said. "He calmly looked at his cell phone and replied that he only wanted to see if she was okay. The male subject then exited her vehicle and casually walked toward another vehicle parked in the lot."

The woman told her fellow students what happened and they notified public safety, who located Rice walking near a building on the block. The woman identified Rice as the man that entered her vehicle. Rice was transported to the Downers Grove Police Department, charged and released to a cab ride home. He has a July 31 court date in Wheaton.
